Pon Radhakrishnan lauds Isro scientists for GSAT 11 launch
It is a shot in the arm for the Narendra Modi government's Digital India programme.
Chennai: Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan who lauded the ISRO scientists for the successful launch of India’s heaviest satellite GSAT11, said it would boost high speed internet and data services to remotest corners of the country.
Congratulating ISRO scientists and extending his best wishes to them for the successful launch of GSAT 11, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the launch marked an important milestone in the history of the department of space. It is a shot in the arm for the Narendra Modi government’s Digital India programme.
The launch vehicle Ariane 5 VA-246 lifted off from Kourou Launch Base, French Guiana at 02:07 am (IST) carrying India’s GSAT-11 and South Korea’s GEO-KOMPSAT-2A satellites, as scheduled. Ariane 5 is one of three launch vehicles operated by Arianespace along with Soyuz and Vega.
“GSAT-11 will boost the broadband connectivity to rural and inaccessible Gram Panchayats in the country coming under the Bharat Net Project, which is part of Digital India Programme,” ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan had said.
