New rates for driving licence in Telangana

As per the Gazette, the fee for a learner's licence will be increased from Rs 30 to Rs 150 with an extra charge of Rs 50 for driving test.

Hyderabad: Fee of driving licences, driving tests, fitness tests and other services will go up with the Central government issueing a gazette notification to this effect and  Telangana government issuing an order.

As per the Gazette, the fee for a learner’s licence will be increased from Rs 30 to Rs 150 with an extra charge of Rs 50 for driving test. Earlier, no charges were collected from the learners for driving test. Earlier, the RTA used to collect Rs 30 for each class of vehicle  – Rs 30 for only two-wheeler and Rs 60 for two-wheeler and four-wheeler together. Now, the motorist will have to pay Rs 300 in case of two-class of vehicle.

The driving licence fee including the driving tests will be Rs 475 for single-class and Rs 525 for two-class of vehicles. As per the GOI’s gazette, the fee will be increased to Rs 500 and Rs 800. The international driving permit fee will be increased to Rs 1,000 from Rs 700.

The renewal of driving licence fee will be increased by four times from Rs 50 to Rs 200. If the application for renewal is made after the grace period, the fee imposed will increase to Rs 300.

The 22nd Central Motor Vehicle Rules will be a burden on school buses and other contract carriage driving licenses. Presently, the fee for the issue or renewal of licence to a school or establishment for imparting instructions in driving is Rs 2,500 which will increase to Rs 10,000. Duplicate licence in this category presently cost Rs 2,500 that will be increased to Rs 5,000.

The vehicle registration fee also will be increased from one to three times compared to existing charges.

Uttar Pradesh government has issued officials government orders on the implementation of the 22nd Central Motor Vehicle Rules as per the GOI’s gazette on Thursday and the new fees were come into existence from Friday.

An official from Telangana State Road Transport Authority said that the implementation of the amendments was depending on the state government’s order. “As the government issues a go, we shall implement the new fee as per the order. The government is planning to issue the order soon,” the official said.
