Floating of tenders gains momentum

Chennai: With northeast monsoon withdrawing and RK Nagar bypoll ending, floating of tenders has started gaining momentum. More tenders to execute infrastructure, road repairs and construction of buildings and purchase of machinery for government departments are expected by next month, secretariat sources said. Tenders from PWD, fisheries, Industries and TWAD boards area also getting clearances and will soon be floated by the mid of February.
The first week of January saw more than dozen tenders being floated for the procurement of insulators, power adaptors and conveyors for the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (Tangedco). Supply of 1100 volts aluminium power cables and maintenance of gasifiers at crematoriums were also floated and Tangedco is now on a spree inviting tenders. By next month the state highways and the local administration ministry will also be inviting several tenders to carry out road repairs that has been damaged during the monsoon.

The agriculture department gearing up for the harvest season has also floated tenders for construction of engineering extension centres at Mad-u-ranthagam and Ariyalur.
Bids for construction of liquid biofertiliser for agricultural engineering department and supply of research microscope and accessories including software for fish analysis for agricultural university, Coimbatore, have also been invited, sources added.
