PARALAKHEMUNDI: As many as 64 girl students of Mohana Government High School in Odisha’s district run by state Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe development department on Monday have left the hostel alleging harassment by the warden.

Sources said that a week ago, the girls entered into a heated argument with the warden as the latter did not allow the inmates to watch Saraswati Puja that was organised in the locality. After coming to know that the girls had ‘disobeyed’ his order, the warden allegedly abused and harassed them in the hostel.

Protesting the behaviour of the warden, the girls left the hostel in the morning. They too had alleged that substandard food was being provided in the hostel. In a related development, parents of the girl students blocked the Berhampur-Rayagada road demanding action against the warden. Meanwhile, senior officials told this newspaper that the girls’ complaints would be looked into.
