Visakhapatnam: When nothing works to get your problems connected with Railways resolved, the best way is to tweet Railway minister Suresh Prabhu. This is evident from the story of Nirupama Das, 48, who had suffered major injuries in the Hirakhand mishap. There are many other incidents in which tweets brought immediate help.

Nirupama had suffered a fracture on her right leg, but as that needed surgery, she was referred to KGH. Trilokeshwar Mishra, the husband of Nirupama, who also suffered a minor injury in the mishap, alleged that his wife was not given proper treatment when they came to KGH for surgery.

“The doctors at Rayagada hospital referred my wife to KGH on January 27 to operate her right leg. The Rayagada railway doctor told us that the railway doctor in Vizag will take care of us. But, we did not get the attention we expected,” Mr Mishra said. One of my relatives tweeted about our ordeal to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. “The tweet brought the railway doctor and a team the next day to the hospital and help came after that,” said Mishra. However, KGH superintendent Dr G. Arjuna denied negligence on the part of KGH medical personnel.
