Andhra Pradesh gets Rs 12,476 crore under Reorganisation Act

But in the current fiscal which is to end in two months, Andhra Pradesh had not received any amount as resource gap funding.

Vijayawada: The Centre had released Rs 12,476.76 crore to Andhra Pradesh since 2014 under various provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act like new capital construction, Polavaram project, backward region development and resource gap funding. 

Around Rs 1.59 lakh crore had been released by the Centre under tax devolution and grants-in-aid during the last three financial years and the current year.

While the state had a deficit of Rs 16,000 crore, as per statistics from the Union Finance Ministry, in the last four years only Rs 3,979.5 crore had been released by the Centre as part of resource funding.

In 2014-15, Rs 2,303 crore was given, the highest amount from the Centre to fill the resource gap. Subsequently, in 2015-16 Rs 500 crore and in 2016-17 Rs 1,176.5 crore had been released.

But in the current fiscal which is to end in two months, Andhra Pradesh had not received any amount as resource gap funding.

In the last three financial years, '1,050 crore at the rate of Rs 350 crore per year, had been released under development grant for seven backward districts of the state covering Rayalaseema and north coastal region.

The present financial year’s development grant fund is yet to be released.  Around Rs 2,500 crore has been released as Assistance for Capital City for Development of essential infrastructure etc during the last three financial years.  

It was in 2014-15 that the highest amount of Rs 1,500 crore for capital  was released. 

In the subsequent years, it was Rs 550 crore and Rs 450 crore, respectively. For Polavaram project, the total amount released since 2014-15 was Rs 4,947.26 crore.

Under tax devolution, Andhra Pradesh received around Rs 82,626 crore in the last four financial years and Rs 24,174 crore as Finance Commission Grants and Rs 52,309 crore under Centrally Sponsored Scheme and other grants.
