Kochi: BVB Teams return from Model United Nations conference

Kochi: The 21 member delegation from Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor and Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, returned to the city after participating in the Harvard Model United Nations Conference 2019 held at Boston, from 24th to 27th Janua-ry. The 66th edition MUN had student delegates representing all member countries of the UN in as many as 30 committees under the aegis of the General Assembly, the Economic & Social Council, a Non- Governmental Organization, six regional bodies and ten specialized agencies. In their respective committees, delegates engaged themselves in debates on matters of international import and they got to experience first hand the challenges of negotiation by assuming the roles of representatives of countries they had been allotted.

Faculty advisors Sreejyothi N of BVM Eroor and Meera Shanker of BVM Girinagar said that the students benefited from the international exposure. Karthika Sanjay of Std XII of BVM Eroor, remarked , “ it was a great opportunity to interact with such a diverse group of smart delegates from across the globe; all of whom had different life stories to tell and an earnest belief that they could change it for the better.”
