Kozhikode: 'Zero Hour' a big hit
Mr James also said that strict action will be taken against drunk drivers without proper vehicle documents.
Kozhikode: The Zero Hour campaign, initiated by the city police in association with the traffic police department, with an aim to curb traffic violations on roads has become a big hit in just a few days of its implementation. As many as 2,900 traffic violators have been given awareness class so far in the North and South Sub- divisions of the police department.
Deputy commissioner James Joseph said the campaign will be carried out in full swing in the coming days.
As per the analysis of the police, the traffic violations on road have come down, by creating awareness among public.
In addition to this more police officials are on road in order to track the violators. The department decided to initiate the campaign after the number of accidents increased on roads due to traffic violations.
As per the regulations of the zero hour campaign, an hour has been dedicated to stringent monitoring of traffic violations in the city and the violators will not be charged with penalty during this one hour. The violators will have to attend a compulsory awareness session of the police department.
Mr James also said that strict action will be taken against drunk drivers without proper vehicle documents.
It has been noted that most of the drunk drivers caught during inspection do not possess licence or other vehicle documents. More innovative initiatives will be implemented in the coming days in order to reduce the accidents and traffic violations, he added.
