Telangana: 2,245 hostels await funds release
Around 1,178 post of wardens and 1,600 posts of workers were vacant.
Hyderabad: It has been seven months that the government has not released funds to run 2,245 SC/ST/BC hostels in the state, alleged R. Krishnaiah, the president of the National Backward Classes Welfare Association.
He met finance secretary and principal secretary of BC welfare department and requested them to ensure that funds reach the hostels as per schedule.
He said, “Wardens of these hostels were borrowing money to run the hostels. Around 1,178 post of wardens and 1,600 posts of workers were vacant. Since five years, the government hasn’t issued notifications to fill up the post. Due to which many students are suffering. The government should also look into this issue and take necessary steps to solve the issue.”
