Jaipur: A woman who dared to defy her family to marry the person of her choice was killed by her brothers. The woman, Ramakunwar  alias Rama, was set on fire by her brother Lakshman Singh and other cousins eight years after she returned home with her three-year-old son.

Her perceived crime in the eyes of her brothers was not just that she eloped with and married the boy she loved but the boy belonged to a different caste.
The incident occurred in Chota Aspur village in South Rajasthan’s.

The police arrested her brother and six cousins for the alleged honour killing on a complaint filed by the deceased’s mother-in-law Kalawati, on Saturday.
She has filed an FIR against 30 to 35 persons for killing her daughter-in-law.

Ram Kunwar alias Rama, a Rajput, left Patlasa village eight years ago after her love marriage to Prakash Sevak, a Brahmin youth from the area against her family’s wishes and the couple was living outside the village since then.
