Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has introduced  reforms for the SSLC examinations  which begin on Wednesday.  As per the changes, 25 percent extra questions will be included in all  question papers of all subjects from which the students can choose.  The examinations, including vocational higher secondary and higher secondary, will end on March 28.

DPI K.V. Mohankumar told DC that last year some subjects had the choice of 25 percent extra questions. This has been extended to all subjects. This is aimed at reducing  the tension in students and also help average students to improve their performance, he  said.

To avoid  irregularities in the  question papers, eight sets of question papers will be set for each subject. One among them will be used for SSLC examinations. Another  set was used for the model examinations, said Mr Mohankumar.

Last year, the question papers were selected from a set of four.  Three of the question setters  would be teachers of the  subjects in high schools and one from higher secondary.

Each teacher has been  asked to prepare two sets of question papers. Till last year, only higher secondary teachers were selected as question paper setters. In view of the summer, drinking water will be provided at the examination hall, he said.
