TR Zeliang quits as CM, makes way for Neiphiu Rio
The BJP is set to form the next government in Nagaland after submitting the letter of support of 32 legislators to Nagaland Governor.
Guwahati: The ongoing tussle for power in Nagaland came to an end on Tuesday with outgoing chief minister T.R. Zeliang tendering his resignation on Tuesday. Though, date for swearing in of new government led by former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was yet to be decided by the Raj Bhvan, the People’s Democratic Alliance comprising National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
The BJP is set to form the next government in Nagaland after submitting the letter of support of 32 legislators to Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya. Sources in NDPP-BJP alliance said that swearing in of new government may be held on Thursday.
Informing that the composition of the new government was also finalised in a meeting between Assam minister and chairman of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance Himanta Biswa Sarma and NDPP chief Neiphiu Rio at Kohima on Monday, sources said.
