Hyderabad: Army wife sets Guinness record
She so far has achieved 11 world records including six Guinness World Records for martial arts, fitness and social work.
Hyderabad: Kiran Uniyal, a mother of two and spouse of a serving Army officer, has been awarded the Guinness World Record for “Most full contact elbow strikes (one hand) in 3 minutes, 466 strikes”.
She is among the few women from the families of Armed Forces/Paramilitary Forces to achieve an individual Guinness Record in India. She has dedicated her achievement to women in the Armed Forces.
Ms Kiran, wife of Colonel Sunil Uniyal who is a serving Army Officer at the Secunderabad Military Station, has been passionate about martial arts since childhood.
“I have always been a diehard fan of Bruce Lee, and so I joined Taekwondo classes as a teenager. After taking a break from it, I resumed practice and then never looked back,” she said.
She so far has achieved 11 world records including six Guinness World Records for martial arts, fitness and social work. The couple has also authored a book called Empowering Divyangjan: A Compendium of Benefits and Facilities for the Differently Abled Children of the Armed Forces.
