SSLC results in May first week: Tanveer Sait
Separate board to conduct SSLC and second PU exams from next year.
BENGALURU: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait has said that the results of the SSLC examinations, which ended on Friday, would be published in the first week of May.
“We are delighted to announce that the exams were conducted smoothly across 2,817 examination centres in the state. Starting next year, a separate examination board will conduct the SSLC and second PU exams,” he told mediapersons in the city on Friday.
Students relieved
Students in the city were in a festive mood after the Social Science exam got over on Friday. They were seen dancing their way out, throwing colours and exchanging gifts outside some exam centres.
Rahul K, a student who appeared for exams at Basavangudi, said the fact that the last exam was an easy one was a big relief. “Except for Science, all the other exams were easy. Hope the board considers the general feeling among us while evaluation,” he added.
Radhamma, a parent said that ensuring CCTVs at all exam halls would ensure smooth conduct of exams.
Karnataka Associated Managements of Primary and Secondary Schools (KAMS) General Secretary D. Shashikumar appreciated the state government and KSEEB for conducting the exams without any major problems, even amidst the CBSE paper leak taking place at the national level.
51 debarred, 2.73% absent
This year, a total of 51 candidates the state were debarred for allegedly indulging in malpractices.
According to data from the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB), 2.73% of the total number of candidates who registered for the exams was absent.
Mass copying alleged
A school principal, on condition of anonymity, said the installation of CCTVs did little to curb malpractice.
“Only government school teachers were on invigilation duty and they are hardly strict. Even though the board claims that the exams were conducted smoothly, mass copying and outsiders barging into the hall were rampant this year as well,” he alleged.
Evaluation from April 16
KSEEB director V. Sumangala said the evaluation process will commence on April 16 and will go on till April 25. The final answer key for all papers will be published online on Sunday from which objections can be filed till April 10. The tentative date for the board meeting to declare the results is fixed on May 3. The minister will hold a press conference to officially declare the results on May 7 and the results will be displayed across all schools in the state on May 8, she added.
