Vijayakanth prays in temple at Kumbakonam for son
Actor Vijayakanth was advised to symbolically reenact the temple belief for his son's future prospects.
THANJAVUR: Film actor and Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK) president, Vijayakanth, his wife Premalatha and her brother Sudeesh offered prayers at Sri Adhikumbeswaraswamy temple at Kumbakonam on Friday. They spent an hour in the temple and offered prayers.
‘Parivattam’ was tied on the head of Vijayakanth by priests. He offered prayers near the flag mast and distributed ‘prasadams’ to people. He offered plantain fruits to temple elephant and got the blessings from the elephant.
Later, he told presspersons that Friday was his son’s (Shanmugha Pandian) birthday and he came to the temple as he was told that “it is good to offer prayer in this temple for his son”.
He later left for Tiruvarur to take part in an agitation over the Cauvery waters issue. On Thursday evening, the actor-turned-politician with his wife and relatives visited ‘Osai Kodutha Nayagi Samedha Sapthapureeswarar temple’ at Thirukolakka near Srikali in Nagapattinam district. Perhaps, actor Vijayakanth was advised to symbolically reenact the temple belief for his son’s future prospects.
