Kottayam: Franco case chargesheet this week
It took one month for the police chief to give his nod after receiving the chargesheet.
Kottayam: The police will file the chargesheet in the alleged sexual harassment of a senior nun by Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal next week.
Kottayam district police chief S. Harisankar told DC that charges would be framed before the First Class Magistrate Court Pala most probably on Monday.
The DGP had given clearance to the chargesheet on Friday, and if any technical delay occurs, it will happen on Tuesday, he said.
It took one month for the police chief to give his nod after receiving the chargesheet. The dissident nuns staying at the St Francis Mission home, Kuravilangad, were planning an agitation against the delay with the support of Save Our Sisters (SoS) campaigners.
The police arrested the influential clergyman in September after their sit-in near the High Court for 13 days that grabbed international headlines.
Filing of the charge-sheet would help the LDF government avoid an embarrassment ahead of the April 23 poll.
