Kurnool: A sympathiser of TD was attacked allegedly by followers of Gummunur Jayaram, Alur YSR Congress MLA because he had abandoned that party.
Around 50 people attacked the house of one Omkar Reddy, beat him up and threatened him with dire consequences. The incident took place at Tummalabeedu village in Alur mandal of Kurnool district on Saturday morning.
Omkar Reddy was reportedly in YSR Congress but was unable to adjust with the autocratic attitude of Mr Jayaram and kept away from party activities. Telugu Desam cadre, on learning about Omkar, invited him to join their party. Omkar accepted the proposal without informing the YSRC. On Friday, he attended Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Nadu's meeting at Alur. On Saturday morning, Omkar formally quit YSR Congress and joined Telugu Desam in the presence of Alur constituency in-charge Veera Bhadri Goud.
Allegedly on the instructions of Gummunur, his follower Sekhar engaged 50 persons and attacked Omkar's house. They also reportedly misbehaved with his family members. Omkar filed a complaint with the Alur police against Sekhar and others. Alur Circle Inspector, D. Dastagiri Babu said the complaint was lodged by Omkar but said that both parties have compromised.
