Ugadi celebrated at Tirumala temple

Tirupati: Ugadi Asthanam heralding the advent of Sri Vikari Nama Samvatsara Telugu Ugadi was celebrated on Saturday morning at Srivari temple in Tirum-ala. As part of the festival, Visesha Samarpanam and Shuddi were observed to Lord Malayappa Swamy and his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi besides Vis-waksena in the morning after Suprabhata seva. Mula Virat and Utsava id-ols were draped in new si-lks after processional puja around Vimana prakaram and Dwajastambham.
Later on, pundits performed Panchanga Sravanam and Asthanam near Bangaru Vakili in a traditional manner. TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal, JEO B. Lakshmikantham, DyEO P. Harindranath and others participated.
The carving of mythological characters in vegetables stole the show where devotees were mused to see Dasavtara set near Dwajastambham. Similarly, the Vamanavatara made of Navadhanyas was an added attraction.
Meanwhile, the maiden festival of the year as per Telugu calendar, Ugadi, was also observed with a great aplomb in a traditional manner in all the local temples under the fold of TTD. The TTD also celebrated Ugadi at Mahati auditorium in Tirupati in a joint venture with TTD welfare and HDPP wings.
Children of TTD employees presented a traditional dress competition followed by prize distribution.
