KURNOOL: All India Youth Federation (AIYF) state secretary Lenin Babu on Thursday demanded that central and state governments enact special laws and arraign fraudsters who are extorting lakhs of rupees using online dating and friendship apps.

Addressing media here, he said these apps mostly target youth, many of whom have committed suicide after being lured by these apps through nude videos and blackmailed. This apart, these apps are also extorting money from youth through blackmail or by providing them easy loans at high-interest rates.

Lenin announced that AIYF will hold protests across the state against these apps on April 10. It will also hold meetings to create awareness about them among people.

District AIYF president K. Srinivasulu, AITUC city secretary G. Chandrasekhar and AIYF city president Babaiah were among those present.
