After Supreme Court lays it down NEET, COMEDK falls in line

Bengaluru: Hours after the Supreme Court on Friday clarified that no exam shall be permitted to be held for admission to MBBS or BDS studies by any private college or association or any private/ deemed university,  COMEDK announced it was canceling the COMEDK UGET exams scheduled on Sunday for medical and dental admissions to 22 member institutions.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, COMEDK Chief Executive A.S. Shrikanth confirmed that COMED UGET for medical and dental course admissions will not be held on Sunday. However,  UGET for engineering exam will be held as previously announced.

COMEDK had planned online UGET this year and more than 1.20 lakh students had applied for medical/ dental courses. This was 45% more compared to previous year. COMEDK officials said the cancellation of the medical/ dental UGET on Sunday will not affect the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics exams which will be held as scheduled. Only the biology exam would be cancelled.
