Pass percentage rises in Polycet

Visakhapatnam: As many as 1, 08, 976 candidates out of the 1, 32, 375 have cracked the Common Entrance Examination for admission into Polytechnic (POLYCET-2016) courses.

M. Venkata Sesh Tej (West Godavari) secured 120 out of 120 marks clinching the first rank while S. Sri Ram Gupta (Srikakulam) and M. Venkata Rohit (East Godavari) fetched 119 out of 120 securing second ranks.
As many as 87,681 seats are available— 16,395 seats in 81 government colleges and 71,286 seats in 232 private colleges.
The pass rate was 70.80 per cent in 2015 and it has increased to 82.32 per cent in 2016. All the SC/ST candidates who appeared for the examination have cleared the entrance.
“To resolve the tie-situations, a candidate having better marks in Mathematics and Physics have been given edge. Candidates have been awarded the same rank if the tie still persists. We will intimate the result to the students through SMS and the counseling to begin in the first or second week of June,” said the minister.
