CBSE should be held answerable: Tamilisai Soundararajan
Sending the medical aspirants to centres in other states for the test, much against the candidates' wishes, is “unacceptable,†she said.
Chennai: The state unit of the BJP has demanded the CBSE which conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Neet) on Sunday to be accountable for the harrowing experience the candidates underwent, as they were asked to write the test outside Tamil Nadu.
“The CBSE should have exercised more caution. Next time, it should ensure that TN Neet candidates are provided centres within the state,” BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said. Sending the medical aspirants to centres in other states for the test, much against the candidates’ wishes, is “unacceptable,” she said.
Reacting to the death of Krishnasamy, father of Neet candidate, in Ernakulam in Kerala on Sunday after he took to his son for the test, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said the board could take steps to allot the examination centres nearer to the candidates’ place of residence. “There is no second opinion that the CBSE should have exercised more caution in allotting the examination centres for Neet candidates,” she added.
Her reaction comes against the backdrop of the Centre facing flak from opposition parties for not allotting centres for Tamil Nadu students within the state.
“The death of a TN parent in Kerala who took his son for NEET exam from TN is regrettable. We share the families grief @BJP4TamilNadu will support sons http://education. TN oppn leader (M.K. Stalin) comments Neet exams take human lives every yr, is condemnable. Don't do politics on deaths & grieves,” she tweeted.
