Telangana collectors to draft plans for new districts
On the second day, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would participate in the conference to finalise the draft guidelines.
Hyderabad: The state government has convened a two-day district collectors conference from Tuesday to deliberate on the modalities to be worked out for creation of new districts from Dasara as desired by the Chief Minister.
The first day of the conference will see the collectors discuss various models for the increase of the number of districts from the existing 10 to 25. On the second day, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would participate in the conference to finalise the draft guidelines.
According to officials, the collectors have been asked to prepare various models on the new districts, like each district should have 70-km radius comprising three revenue divisions and 20 revenue mandals.
Efforts should be that each district should have contiguity rather than a zigzag formation. Mr Rao has already announced that the new districts, along with a few more revenue divisions and revenue mandals would be operational from Dasara.
Officials say that once a roadmap with guidelines is finalised, the process could be expedited.
