Hyderabad: After the renaming the Hafeezpet Road at Hitec City MMTS station as KTR-IT Park Road failed to get the work moving, techies sought permission from Cyberabad police on Wednesday to stage a protest by riding on bullock cart. The police is yet to give the nod.

The residents want to meet minister K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday, and speak about their agony as the repeated online requests have failed.

The techies have created a sample poster of IT employees commuting to work on a bullock cart with a banner reading “Welcome to Bangaru Telangana, Hitec City Shuttle Service, Gokul Plots – Mahindra Ashvita.”

Residents alleged that work had commenced last month but stopped after 10 days. IT professionals said there is traffic congestion when it rains and multiple accidents take place daily due to bottlenecks such as high tension poles.

Mr Biareddy Narsimha Reddy said, “There is negligence when it comes to work which I brought to the notice of officials. We have been warning about rains for three months, but the civic body never cared to speed up the work. Now they are blaming rains for stalling the work.” Mr Abhijeet Sinha said, “For 10 days the work is not moving forward, and now officials are citing rain.”

A GHMC official said the work would be completed in a month. An official, said, “The earthen road levelling and providing wet mix is in progress. During the earthing process soil gets a little loose. Because of rain work was stopped for a very short duration.”
