Rajahmundry: Drawing inspiration from the successful execution of Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme facilitating linking of Godavari river to Krishna river, the state government is thinking of linking more rivers.

This includes connecting Krishna to Penna and Vamsadhara to Nagavali to stabilise the supply of water in the respective command areas for cultivation of crops and to ensure supply of drinking water to the people.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu switched on the motor Nos 2 and 6 of Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme at Pattisam village in West Godavari on Wednesday to release Godavari river water to Krishna delta through Polavaram irrigation project’s Right Main Canal.

Soon after switching on the motors to facilitate lifting of Godavari water, he reached Itukalakota where the water delivery point was located and showered flower petals in the water gushing from 12 pumps.

Later, he told newsmen that inter-linking of rivers in the state would become panacea to solve water shortage problem either for cultivation of crops or for drinking and industrial needs.
