Madhya Pradesh: Saree in court saves a marriage

Bhopal: A court in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday saved the troubled marriage of a young couple by ordering the man to present his wife a saree.
It may sound incredulous, but the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court at district headquarters of Khargone, nearly 450 km from here, resolved the marital discord between the couple, Sanju Morea (25) and Renu Muchhal (23), by simply addressing the key grievance of the woman that her husband has never gifted her a saree, according to local marriage counselor S.N.Tripathy. “Sanju presented his wife a saree as per directive of the CJM, Khargone, G.Dubey and then told her she will look stunningly beautiful in the six-yard wonder. His words made her emotional as she held his hand impulsively, ending their 2-year-long marital strife,” Mr Tripathy said.
According to him, Sanju, a resident of Jaitapur in Khargone district, married Renu, who hailed from Khargone town, on February 14, 2014. However, the couple suffered marital strain barely six months after their marriage and used to pick up quarrels over silly matters.
Later, Renu left her husband’s home and started staying with her parents. She later filed a divorce case in the local court. Her key grievance was that her husband never presented her a saree. “The couple was on the verge of separation over a silly matter, but the court saved their marriage,” Mr Tripathy observed.
