Cloud seeding from August, says Byre Gowda

Gowda said that Karnataka is expected to receive good rainfall in the kharif season as per the prediction of the meteorological department.

Hubballi: Agriculture minister Krishna Byre Gowda said that cloud seeding will be undertaken in the second week of August after studying the rainfall pattern and availability of clouds in the state. 

Addressing mediapersons in Bagalkot on Thursday, he said the government will initiate the process in this regard after obtaining permission from the civil aviation ministry which will require at least a month. Stating that around 8-10 districts have received scanty rainfall this season, he said that Karnataka is expected to receive good rainfall in the kharif season as per the prediction of the meteorological department. 

The government will start cloud seeding in the southern part of the state, Mumbai-Karnataka and Hyderabad-Karnataka.
