T.S. Nagabharana, Rom Whitaker, Raghu Karnad to be at Mysuru Literature Festival

Mysuru: The countdown has begun for the much-awaited third edition of Mysuru Literature Festival, hosted by Mysuru Literary Forum and Mysuru Book Club, will be held on July 13 and 14.

Rajamatha Pramoda Devi Wadiyar will inaugurate the Festival, which will host as many as 40 eminent speakers from across the country. Two foreigners will also be part of 14 panel discussions on varied topics, ranging from relevance of Vedas to elections.

A few of the eminent speakers who will participate in the panel discussions are Mark Davi Abbott from New Zealand, Romulus Whitaker, Shobhaa De, Dr V. Srinivas, Dr Prithvi Datta Chandra Shobhi, Lakshmi Palecanda, Vikram Muthanna, K.N. Shanth Kumar, Devika Cariappa, T.S. Nagabharana, Mahesh Rao, Dharmendra, Sita Bhaskar, Gauri Satya, Navin Chawla, Nirupama Menon Rao, Air Marshal Nanda Cariappa, Manu S. Pillai, Janaki Lenin, Raghu Karnad, Prof Shadakshari Setter, Preethi Maroli, Preethi Nagaraj and others.

There will be panel discussions on the 25th Maharaja of Mysuru royal family, Sri Jay—achamarajendra Wadiyar, to mark his birth centenary this year, and litterateur Jnanapith award winner Girish Karnad, who passed away recently. Panel discussions on Archaeology by Ms Devika Cariappa and “World of Crocodiles” by Romulus Whitaker are also part of the festival, said Ms Shubha Sanjay Urs, the chairperson of Mysuru Literary Forum, a charitable trust, and Mysuru Book Clubs.

During the Litfest, Manu S.  Pillai’s The Courtesan, the Mahatma and the Italian  Brahmin, will be launched, she said. The Litfest will be held at Hotel Southern Star.
