Telugu people stranded at Simikot again

Heavy snowfall has blocked the roads, restricting them to camp at Simikot, according to officials.

VIJAYAWADA: As many as 42 people from the two Telugu states, who had gone for the Manasarovar yatra have been have been stranded at Simikot without food and water for the last six days. Heavy snowfall has blocked the roads, restricting them to camp at Simikot, according to officials.  

Among the 42 tourists is Sk. Mujib-ur-Rahman, husband of Eluru mayor Sk. Noorjahan. Officials say that they will try to shift the tourists to safety, if weather permits, from Tuesday.  Meanwhile, MP Maganti Babu has taken up the issue with Defence minister Nirmala Sitaraman and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sushma Swaraj. Mr Maganti Babu said that “The Union ministers have responded positively, assuring me that food and water is being arranged for the tourists.”
