Kozhikode: SWC takes case in acid attack case
The relatives of the accused have no information about him as Subhash seldom contacted them after their split.
Kozhikode: The State Women's Commission suo motu registered a case on Monday in the acid attack on a woman by former husband at Mukkam near here.
The victim Swapna has been recuperating at Medical College Hospital. The incident took place near the Anayath Temple in the Karassery panchayat on Saturday, when her former husband poured acid on her face and stabbed.
The women's commission also directed its member M.S. Thara to seek a report from the Kozhikode rural district police chief on the progress of the investigation.
The commission also deplored such recurring attacks on women which would make them afraid of taking a strong position in relations, the panel said.
The man becomes more and more adamant in family stressing that his diktats should be obeyed and implemented, it said.
Cops are in a tough situation as even the cyber wing failed to track the mobile phone used by the accused who had flown down from Kuwait the other day only to seek revenge for separation.
The relatives of the accused have no information about him as Subhash seldom contacted them after their split.
A police official who preferred anonymity told DC that since their divorce, Subhash was living a frustrated life with bouts of mental disturbance. He had sought treatment in the Gulf for depression.
