Chennai: Skeleton found in Tambaram sanatorium triggers panic
Police investigating the case said that the investigation shows that the person may have died around four or five months ago.
Chennai: In a mysterious case, a skeleton was found on the campus of Tambaram sanatorium on Wednesday evening creating chaos and confusion in the area.
Hospital workers said the case came to light when dogs fighting near the small hillock on campus came running with a human arm bone. When they went and checked the place, they found a human skeleton. Shocked, they informed Tambaram police, they said.
The Tambaram police initially sent the skeleton to Chromepet Government Hospital, after which a case was registered and an investigation began.
Hospital authorities denied any connection with the skeleton and said that it could not have been that of a patient as nobody had gone missing from the sanatorium. They, however, said that it could be that of an outsider as huge number of visitors come during daytime.
Police investigating the case said that the investigation shows that the person may have died around four or five months ago. The gender, however, could not be identified. The skeleton has now been sent to the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital for a DNA test to determine the sex.
Other patients in the hospital, however, said that there is no security at the hospital at all and it could even be an attender. Several attendents stay with patients and this could even be a woman attender who might have been assaulted and killed behind the bushes there.
The police, however, maintain that the details would only emerge after the DNA test and other tests to determine injuries. They also said that it could be a patient waiting to be admitted and died overnight.
