OOTY: Dam sites amidst sylvan surroundings in the hills now provide a visual treat for picnic trips. These dam sites command marvellous views in the backdrop of autumn. Unlike the summer season, when water levels in the reservoirs are low, autumn sees the reservoirs full.

While there is no regular sight-seeing trips being operated to dam sites, except for the Kamaraj Sagar dam, it would be good if the tourist department takes the initiative to organize sight-seeing trips  to places like Avalanchee, Emerald, Porthihada, Upper Bhavani, Parson’s Valley and Pykara, where the sprawling hydel reservoirs amidst the woods look gorgeous.

This would help expand tourism to rural areas in the hills to bring tourism related revenue to enhance the rural economy and trade, say passionate observers of hill tourism.
