4,651 Ganesha idols geotagged in Warangal
Police deployed at each pandal for additional security.
Warangal: In their bid to provide security and ensure that no untoward incidents take place at pandals during the Ganesha Navaratri Utsavams, the Warangal commissionerate police have geotagged the idols and have deployed policemen at each pandal to monitor the security.
About 6,182 idols under the Warangal police commissionerate limits in Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural and Jangaon districts were installed. Of these, 4,651 Ganesha idols were geotagged.
As many as 2,645 idols were installed in the central zone, 1,808 in the west zone and 1,729 idols in the east zone.
Commissioner of police V. Ravinder said that they had geotagged the Ganesha idols under each police station limit.
For the first time, the permissions for pandals were cleared through online registrations. The details of the pandal committee were uploaded online in the police portal along with the photos taken by the local police teams who visited the pandals.
“Geotagging enables us to locate a certain pandal easily and in case of any mishap, we will able to consider all the routes leading to the pandal. Our blue colt teams have been deployed to keep round the clock surveillance at the pandals. As part of the friendly policing initiative, we appeal to the pandal committee members to cooperate with the police and celebrate the festival peaceful,” he said.
