Odisha Youth Held Captive in Cambodia Seeks Help for Release
BHUBANESWAR: A youth hailing from Odisha's Ganjam district who has allegedly been held captive by a company's agent in Cambodia has appealed to Prime Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The youth has been identified as Dinabandhu Sahu of Biswanathpur under Rangeilunda block. As per initial reports, Dinabandhu had come in contact with a Gujarat-based company and was supposed to join as a computer operator at a company in Vietnam.
The entire process was executed through the company's agent Binod Pathak who took Rs 1.5 lakh from him. Dinabandhu was first taken to Vietnam in flight and later was made to work in a company in Cambodia.
It is alleged that he was forced to work for SIM card and OTP-based cyber fraud. When he refused to do the job and wanted to return to India, he was held inside a room by the company. The company's agent told him that he would be released only after his family paid 2500 US dollar.
Under such circumstances, he has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to initiate measures for his safe return.
