Warangal Commissionerate set for expansion

Police to have more offices in new districts.

Warangal: The Warangal police commissionerate is all set to expand its territory after the district reorganisation process. After it has been decided that Jangaon district will be created, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao directed the officials to bring Jangaon district under Warangal commissionerate.

To this effect, the department has made suitable changes assigning police stations to different zones and work on the expansion of the commissionerate will begin from Dasara, along with all the new districts.

At present, 19 police stations, three traffic police stations, one woman police station and one crime police station are functioning under the commissionerate. After the proposed changes, 55 police stations will be functioning under the commissionerate with 10 divisions in three districts -- Warangal Rural, Urban and Jangaon.

The ACP posts are also going to increase in the new commissionerate. At present, there are ACP posts for Warangal, Hanamkonda, Kazipet, Mamnoor, crime, traffic and special branch. According to the new proposals, Narsampet, Huzurabad, Jangaon DSP offices will turn into ACP offices. Wardhannapet, KUC, Station Ghanpur will be the newly-created ACP zones.

Commissioner of police G. Sudheer Babu said they have identified the buildings required for the new police stations and tha tbasic amenities will be provided to the police stations before they begin to function. In the next few months, required personnel will be allotted to each police station, he added.
