Andhra Pradesh: Blood banks make cash at the patients expense
The organisation, further demanded that the government owned blood banks should function round the clock.
Anantapur: A private blood bank has been fleecing patients by quoting a high price for platelets in Anantapur.
Jana Chaitanya Vedika observed that the private blood bank was collecting Rs 30,000 for each sachet in the view of rising demand for the blood due to a rise in dengue and other viral fevers in the district and the surrounding districts in Karnataka.
Jana Chaitanya Vedika organised an awareness programme here on Friday on illicit trading of blood. They alleged the private blood bank was collecting hefty amounts from the parents by creating artificial scarcity.
The government should cancel the licence and initiate stringent action against blood bank organisers of Deepu blood bank, the Jana Chaitanya Vedik demanded. The organisation, further demanded that the government owned blood banks should function round the clock following alarming rise of dengue and other viral fevers.
Meanwhile, K. Aparna , a sixth class student died of dengue fever at while being treated at Bengalure on Friday. Sources said the girl hails from Ganga Nagar in Anantapur was studying in Sarada Municipal High School and was suffering from dengue.
