Hyderabad: Padmaraonagar roads go under drain water
Rains, overflowing drains hit traffic movement.
Hyderabad: The flash rain of Sunday afternoon flooded the Padmaraonagar main road with the overflowing drain water adding to people’s woes. Vehicular movement was severely affected on this and other roads.
Residents charge that blocked drains were the cause for heavy stagnation. Drains had not been cleaned up despite repeated complaints in the past to the authorities.
Even hours after the rain stopped, flotsam remained on the roads within Padmaraonagar, with plastic wrappers and other waste remaining stuck on the road and underneath the cars parked in the area.
Drain-water stagnation was all the more irritating for residents as it was at the entry point leading to Padmaraonagar.
“There are a lot of potholes on the road as well. People unaware of them could as well fall down, which would be very dangerous,” said a resident Krishna Pujari.
Another resident stated, “The drainage system is age old when there were only five families living in large independent houses. Now, there are 50 families staying in various apartments. How can the old drainage system take the load? It is because of this that drains are getting blocked and water is stagnating on roads.”
Residents complain that though they have made multiple complaints to the North Zone office of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, there has been no response.
