EC prohibits transfer of officials related to electoral roll preparation

Vijayawada: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has prohibited the transfer of officials related to the preparation of electoral rolls for Assembly constituencies from October 27, 2023 to January 5, 2024.

The order applies to all officials connected with electoral roll preparation, including district election officers, sub-collectors, revenue divisional officers, deputy collectors, joint collectors, municipal commissioners, additional municipal commissioners, assistant electoral registration officers, supervisors, village revenue officers, village revenue assistants, panchayat secretaries, village and ward secretariat employees, and other officials appointed as booth level officers.

The order was issued by AP chief electoral officer Mukesh Kumar Meena in a GO Rt No. 1973 on Friday.

Meanwhile, the authorities have been directed to fill up all vacant posts related to electoral roll revision immediately and furnish a certificate that all such posts have been filled by October 10, 2023.
