Hyderabad: Doctors from Hyderabad will join their counterparts from from across the country in a dharna on November 16 to raise two main demands.

They oppose National Medical Commission  (NMC) mooted by the central government to replace Medical Council of India while demanding a central law to protect doctors from being attacked by people who take law into their own hands.
The 30 State and 1765 local branches of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) will take part in the dharna.

Dr K Ramesh Reddy, MCI member and Paediatric Surgery department in Niloufer Hospital head, said, “The government can bring in amendments but not replace the MCI completely, that too with nominated non-medical members.”
