Kozhikode:‘Insight’, the free competitive examination coaching programme initiated by Panoor police has taken wings after SSC (Staff Selection Commission) called for application towards 50,000 vacancies at central armed police forces.

The new exclusive coaching for physical training and written test is going on in full swing. The police launched the project in July to wean away the youth becoming the henchmen of political parties in the killing fields of Kannur.

“Panoor is the most sensitive spot in Thalassery region. Our aim is to dissuade the youth from felling in the perennial trap of revenge politics and inject the hopes of a  career, job and family prospects among them. That insight was utterly lacking here, and it was one major reason the youth become the henchmen of political parties,” said Panoor Circle Inspector V.V. Benny, the man behind the mission.

More than 1000 youngsters are actively taking part in the classes at 25 coaching centres, including Panoor and Kolavalloor police stations, with teachers, led by retired teachers and other experts.

The physical training session for armed police force test is being conducted at Panoor higher secondary school ground on every morning from 6 to 8 except Sunday.

As many as 170 men and women are the aspirants and cops, ex-servicemen and military personnel who come on leave are giving lessons.

The coaching for the written test is in evenings.

“More than 90 per cent of the youth who are undergoing coaching have not even applied for a Public Service Commission test. Our effort has instilled career ambitions among them, a big change from the past,” says Sajeev Othayoth, a teacher under the programme.

“Our target is to have a government servant in each household.

The mass vacancy of 50,000 in central armed force is a golden opportunity, and we have been time and again reminding the aspirants about the 50,000 number to boost them.”
