Bengaluru: Commuters want quality work in filling potholes

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike is burning the midnight oil and filling up potholes in the city to meet the November 10 deadline that it has set for itself.
While the heads of the civic body are racing against time to meet the deadline, potholes continue to remain on stretches of roads where it had already filled the holes.
“We are really surprised to know as to what constitutes a pothole in the eyes of BBMP. The circle next to Ramakrishna Ashram on Bull Temple Road in Basavanagudi seems to be asphalted. The civic body has filled the potholes like applying a band-aid. But potholes continue to remain,” said Ms Manasa, a commuter.
"We are not complaining about the quality of work for filling the potholes. We are just saying that the BBMP workers have been leaving many potholes unfilled on roads where they have already completed their filling work," said Mr Sharatha, an office-goer.
According to the civic body, it has more than 2,500 potholes to fill. Work is going round-the-clock and the BBMP officials are confident of sticking to their deadline.
Citizens are complaining that BBMP should not be looking to fill potholes and pat its back."We want roads which are commutable. Along some stretches, there are so many potholes that they need to be completely asphalted. As the BBMP is unable to suppress such complaints on the social media, at least it is managing this shoddy job. But BBMP is not realising that the complaints will be back if the work is shoddy and incomplete" said Mr Yuvaraj, a student.
