MB Patil in dock? Plaint before CBI
Former minister and Congress leader M.B. Patil got false cases filed.
Bengaluru: After the telephone tapping scandal, another sinister attempt to save the then shaky JD(S)-Congress coalition government by foisting false cases against those who spoke against the government has surfaced.
The suspect is former minister from Congress camp M.B. Patil, and a complainant has been filed with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Mr Vinod Kumar, a junior engineer with Bescom, has filed a complaint against the minister. He alleged that Mr Patil had given clear instructions to IPS officers and other staff in the police department to file false cases against those who dared to speak against the coalition government.
BJP MP Umesh Jadhav , who defeated Congress senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge, and Valmiki community seer Prasannananda Swamiji who attacked coalition government were the prime target, the complaint states.
The complainant claimed that an IPS officer told him that a hit list of such people was with then home minister M.B. Patil by. The CBI had taken cognizance of the complaint and asked state DG&IGP Dr Neelamani Raju to probe the matter and submit a report.
Dr Raju, in turn, had assigned Central Range IGP Dr K.V. Sharathchandra to get the matter investigated.
Complainant Vinod Kumar also pointed out that he was harassed and arrested by the Chintamani police. “The High Court had issued a stay on the investigation,” he said.
Mr Vinod Kumar explained that he was picked up by the police as they thought he was the follower of a BJP leader. Clear instructions were given by the Mr Patil to harass and arrest BJP supporters, the complaint stated.
Mr Patil rejected charges against him. “MP Umesh Jadhav is my friend. I have respect for Prasannananda swamiji,” he stated.
