1.44 cr Families Screened in AP for Health Under Jagananna Suraksha So Far: Jagan

Vijayawada: The Jagananna Suraksha programme that conducts health camps and provides healthcare to the masses has reached its final stage. Nearly 1.44 crore families have been subjected to health screening so far.

This was stated at a review on the programme held by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy with district collectors in video-conferencing  mode on Monday. Health minister Vidadala Rajini and senior officials were also present.

The CM said the health camps to screen the people for various ailments have covered 91 per cent of the homes in urban areas and 94.94 per cent in rural areas. The 1.44 crore families screened involved ANMs, community health and Asha workers and others.

Some 6.4 crore rapid tests were conducted with an average of four such tests in each household. The health camps in rural areas would be completed by November 22 and in urban areas by November 29. By November 5, nearly 85,000 patients were referred to either network hospitals or medical colleges for further treatment.

 The Chief Minister called for efforts to track them through the mobile app and map them to the hospitals concerned in order to provide them medical treatment until they get cured of their ailment. Such an exercise must be completed by December-end, he said.

“Provide them with requisite medicines and pay them an assistance of Rs 500 to help them reach referral hospitals,” he said.

The CM instructed the officials to ensure there is no corruption in providing medical treatment to the patients under this scheme. There must be proper monitoring on whether the patients are visiting hospitals and taking medicines after getting discharged from the hospitals, he said, and expressed concern as to why only 33 per cent of the patients were asking for medicines from the hospitals after three months, 22 per cent patients after six months and only eight per cent after a year even for chronic ailments. This issue must be addressed and solved, the CM told the officials.

He called for creating awareness on availing Aarogyasri services from December 1 and directed the officials to help the people download the Aarogyasri app on their mobile phones. Issue Aarogyasri cards, he asked the officials, and said every home must have the app, while referring to how 1.24 crore women registered for Disha app on their phones in the state.

The Chief Minister said the number of Aarogyasri procedures has been increased to 3,300. So was the case with the network hospitals, where the procedures increased to 2,295 from 950.

 Maintaining that 8.72 lakh patients underwent eye tests under Kanti Velugu programme, the CM said that, of them, 5.22 lakh patients required glasses and 73,474 required eye surgeries. He asked the officials to arrange these to the patients by the end of December.

Referring to the setting up of village secretariats, village health clinics and the launch of family doctor concept, the CM said that no district was having similar facilities in other states. Reach the targets including in prevention of malnutrition and anemia, he asked the district collectors.

Each district collector should take this as a challenge and create a situation of zero anemic cases in their district by providing nutritious diet to the targeted beneficiaries. There is also the need to provide healthcare and facilitate surgical intervention to the patients suspected to be infected and those suffering from tuberculosis and to 1,239 children suffering from various deficiencies, defects at birth, diseases and developmental delays, the CM said.

 Jagan Mohan Reddy called for providing healthcare to patients suffering from chronic diseases. Extend tertiary medical services and expand healthcare services. “Aarogya Suraksha camps must be held from January 1 with a target of having these once in a mandal every week, or four camps in a month. Conduct these on a regular basis.”

The CM also held a review on ‘Why AP Needs Jagan’ campaign, and said that the programme would be intensified from November 9. He said there was a need to create awareness among the people how they were getting a series of welfare schemes and benefits from the government.

He directed the officials to set up boards in each village/ward secretariat, explaining as to how many people under which all schemes were benefited and the money spent to provide amenities like setting up of village/ward secretariats, RBKs, Village Clinics etc.
