Punish those who do deplantation: JS

Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena corporator Murthy Yadav appealed to take action against those who cut the trees and vegetation in the GVMC 22nd ward. He complained in the Spandana programme on Monday.

After meeting the city mayor, GVMC commissioner,  he spoke to the media and said, “The GVMC staff was unfairly uprooting big green trees in my ward which is against the provisions of the AP Walta Act.”

He further added that to get permission for the building or any other structure or any other construction according to the AP Walta Act, the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and the Forest Conservation Act, 1980 permission must be obtained from the department of urban forestry or from the GVMC and the horticulture departments. But in Pithapuram Colony near the Saibaba temple, the big green trees were removed without any permission.

Murthy Yadav said, “Officials of GVMC and the horticulture department are supposed to increase and protect the greenery in the city, but here the officials of the respective departments are cutting down the trees with complaints from residents of commercial areas. Officials are succumbing to the money.”
