Mumbai: Veteran singer Asha Bhosale (83) has electrified many with her golden voice, but the Maharashtra Electricity Distribution Company has been asking the diva to pay astronomical power dues of Rs 53,822 till the month of September for her Lonavala bungalow, where she rarely resides.

Moved by Ms Bhosale’s plight, BJP Mumbai unit president Ashish Shelar took the matter up with energy minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. The latter ordered the chief engineer of Mahavitaran, Pune to investigate the matter.

Mr Shelar informed Mr Bawankule that despite Ms Bhosale staying for only two or three days in her villa every month, Mahavitaran has been sending abnormally high bills from August 2015 to October this year.
