5,000 bogus voters not yet deleted from list: DMK
After verification, the petitioner found that still there are 5,000 bogus voters and their names have not been deleted.
Chennai: Alleging that 5,000 bogus voters are yet to be deleted from voters list in RK Nagar constituency, the DMK party has approached the Madras high court to reopen its earlier case relating to purifying the voters list.
When the First Bench headed by Chief Justice Indira Banerjee commenced its proceedings at 10.30 am, senior counsel P.Wilson made an urgent mention to this effect on behalf of DMK organization secretary R.S.Bharathi.
Wilson said based on the submission of the Election Commission of India that all bogus voters had been deleted this court recorded the same and closed the petition filed by Bharathi, which sought to purify the voters list in R.K.Nagar assembly constituency. After verification, the petitioner found that still there are 5,000 bogus voters and their names have not been deleted.
The ECI has given false information to the court. Therefore, the case has to be heard again, Wilson added. The bench directed him to file a letter to that effect. Following this, the DMK party has filed a letter as well as a memo to reopen the case.
