Comprehensive Mobility Plans for 9 towns in Andhra Pradesh
Comprehensive Mobility Plans (CMPs) for nine towns in AP Haryana based UMTC awarded to prepare CMPs for these towns.
Hyderabad: Haryana based Urban Mass Transport Company (UMTC) has been chosen to prepare a comprehensive mobility plan for nine cities in Andhra Pradesh. The state government has authorised Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation to prepare a low carbon comprehensive mobility plan for all municipal corporation areas that are likely to be developed as Smart cities.
The comprehensive mobility plan for the nine towns in the state will be grouped under two packages. Package one covers five cities — Eluru, Kakinada, Nellore, Ongole and Rajahmundry. Package two covers four cities — Anantapur, Chittoor, Kadapa and Kurnool. Four consultants — Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit system (DIMITS), L&T Infra Engineering, ICRA Management Consulting Services and Urban Mass Transport Company (UMTC) — submitted technical and financial bids for both the packages.
UMTC was the preferred bidder for both packages. The state government has permitted Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) to enter into an agreement with CUMTC to prepare Comprehensive Mobility Plans for the nine towns. Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Machilipatnam, Tenali and Guntur are not covered by CMPs and it is presumed that Guntur and Tenali may be covered by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) for preparation of CMPs.
