Fear of exams make student kill herself in Kukatpally
Don't want to let family down, reads victim's suicide note.
Hyderabad: In yet another case of a student committing suicide because she was afraid of not doing well in examinations, an 18-year-old engineering student hung herself at her home in Kukatpally on Tuesday night.
A suicide note was found in the room which said that she was sorry and she could not face the exams and let her family down.
M. Priyanka was a first year BTech student of G Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science, and lived in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kukatpally.
“On Wednesday evening, she asked her mother, who was going out to drop her brother to his tuition class, to get her something to eat. Her mother called her on her mobile to ask her what she wanted to eat. Her younger sister Piyali went to give the phone to her sister, but instead saw her lifeless body hanging from the ceiling,” said an official.
Priyanka’s suicide note said that the exam she had given the previous day was not up to the mark and she was unable to face the upcoming exams as well.
Following a complaint, a case has been booked under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC.
