Madras High Court recalls NBW against Vijayakanth
The case was adjourned to December 5 for their appearance.
Chennai: The Madras high court on Wednesday recalled the non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued by a lower court in the city against DMDK leader A.Vijaykanth and former DMDK MLA D.Murugesan in connection with an assault case.
Passing orders on the petition filed by Vijaykanth and Murugesan, Justice M.S.Ramesh recalled the NBW issued by the judicial magistrate, Alandur dated December 5, 2017. Originally, on a complaint from a journalist alleging that he was assaulted by the duo at the airport in October 2012, the police registered a case and remanded the matter to the Alandur JM, which issued summons to the duo to appear before it on November 14. On that day, Murugesan appeared before the court but Vijaykant could not appear.
The case was adjourned to December 5 for their appearance. When the case came up for hearing on December 5, they did not make their appearance. Vijaykanth's counsel informed the court that he had proceeded to Singapore due to some unavoidable situation and he was returning to Chennai only on December 7.
