Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu to inaugrate Thyagaraja festival

Thanjavur: The Vice-president Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu will inaugurate the 173rd 'Aradhana' of saint composer Sri Thyagaraja at the saint's 'Samadhi' on the banks of Cauvery at Thiruvaiyaru at 3 PM on January 11, 2020, said Mr. G.K. Vasan, president of Sri Thyagabrahma Mahotsava Sabha, which celebrates annual 'Aradhana' of the saint at Thiruvaiyaru near here on Friday.
Speaking to presspersons after attending the 'pandakal muhurtham' for erecting the 'pandal' for the festival, Vasan said that the 'Aradhana' will go on till January 15, 'Pushya Bagula Panchami' day when the saint had attained 'Samadhi'. On January 15, musicians will render Thyagaraja's 'Pancha Rathna Kritis' in chorus and pay homage to the saint.
M. Govinda Rao, Thanjavur district collector will participate in the 'Aradhana'.
Earlier, after performing 'pujas', a causarina pole was planted at a corner of the 'Samadhi' for erecting the 'pandal'. Trustees of the sabha, Chandrasekara Moopanar, Suresh Moopanar, M.R. Panchanatham and Deccan Murthy participated in the simple function.
